Veterans have sacrificed so much. They deserve free healthcare for life!
Every day, members of America's armed forces sacrifice so much for the safety of the country. Whether on the frontlines or serving stateside, these selfless men and women have given up the freedom of civilian life to do their part in protecting our country.
But when they return to civilian life, things like healthcare can become complicated. Not everyone who serves qualifies for care at the Veterans Administration (VA) hospitals. Any veteran with a service-connected disability can get access to the VA, but for everyone else, VA care is dependent upon income.
According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs website, the financial income threshold is $27,790 for a veteran with no dependents and the range graduates upward to $38,948 for four dependents. Many veterans are in working class families earn too much to qualify, but too little to be able to afford private coverage.
As a result, almost two million veterans lack health insurance, according to a report in the American Journal of Public Health.
That these service men and women would have to go without health insurance is a national disgrace.
Tell the United States House and Senate Committees on Veterans' Affairs they must do more for the United States' veterans. Any veteran who served in the active military service and was separated under any condition other than dishonorable should get free healthcare for life! No clauses, no stipulations. They earned it, and their selfless service to the nation should be rewarded.
The Petition:
To the United States House Committees on Veterans' Affairs and the United States Senate Committees on Veterans' Affairs,
I am writing to you today to express my support for a comprehensive healthcare system for all of America's veterans. Any veteran who served in the active military service and were separated under any condition other than dishonorable should get free healthcare for life.
As you are no doubt aware, not everyone who serves qualifies for care at the Veterans Administration (VA) hospitals. Any veteran with a service-connected disability can get access to the VA, but for everyone else, VA care is dependent upon income.

Please, work together to develop a nationwide program which would grant free healthcare for life for any veteran who served in the active military service and was separated under any condition other than dishonorable. No clauses, no stipulations. They earned it, and their selfless service to the nation should be rewarded.
Thank you,
